Description

NEW & Exclusive: Head of Construction | Global-Backed PV & BESS Platform

The Role:
A rapidly growing renewable energy developer in Tokyo—backed by a leading global infrastructure investor—is expanding its pipeline of utility-scale solar and battery storage projects across Japan. Founded by a former senior executive from a major international IPP, the company has already launched over 250MWp of PV assets and is actively developing over 1GWh of co-located storage.

The company is now seeking a Head of Construction to oversee project delivery and build out its internal construction capabilities during a pivotal growth phase.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end construction for utility-scale solar and BESS projects, from NTP to COD
  • Manage EPC tendering, contract negotiation, budgeting, and site execution
  • Build and lead an internal construction team across project management, engineering, and HSE
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and technical standards across all stakeholders
  • Coordinate closely with Development and Asset Management to ensure smooth project handover
  • Support integration of storage and contribute to distributed generation strategies
  • Establish and monitor internal systems to manage construction performance and risks

Why This Opportunity?

  • Active pipeline with shovel-ready projects and funding in place
  • Strong in-house development, engineering, and finance expertise
  • Backed by a global investor with long-term capital and strategic focus on APAC
  • Opportunity to shape and lead a core function in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment

Candidate Profile

  • 10+ years of experience in utility-scale construction (solar, storage, or heavy infrastructure)
  • Deep knowledge of Japanese construction regulations and grid connection processes
  • Native-level Japanese and business-level English required
  • Prior experience in growth-stage or fast-moving project environments preferred
