Mission is to accelerate Japan's transition to a leading clean economy by bridging government, industry, and capital to turn Japan's industrial strengths into competitive advantage.

The Head of Public Sector is a senior leadership role at our client focused on driving positive policy changes that lay the foundation for Japan's private sector to mobilise. The role combines networking, research, influence and program development to collaborate across key Government ministries, Diet members and other key public sector stakeholders.

Day-to-day, the Head of Public Sector will build and lead a team, commissions research and modelling, engages Government officials, and drives mechanisms that shift policy changes to support policy around GX, energy security, export and trade, applying pressure where needed to move slower actors and shift systemic behaviour.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set the direction for the public sector strategy and ensures the direction of policy and subsidies creates a healthy environment for the private sector to mobilize capital and drive Japanese clean economy forward. 

  • Forges partnerships and builds networks across key ministries, industrial groups to drive collaboration and unlock opportunity

  • Originates and leads due diligence on program-related investments, turning opportunity into impact

  • Builds and leads the team that executes the Public sector programs.

 

Requirements: 

  • Relationship driven, well-respected and networked Government Relations leader, ideally with experience in advocacy activities.

  • Understanding of Japan's political priorities, as well as how decisions are made at ministry level.

  • Strong collaborative mindset and ability to influence departmental level decisions or above.

  • Native in Japanese, business level English.
