Head of Engineering at Global Renewables Developer

Company:

• Our client is one of largest renewable companies globally with >10GW of operating capacity, across a variety of assets including onshore and offshore wind, solar and energy storage.
• Entered APAC via M&A in 2011.  Launched the Japan business back in 2014.
• Focus right now domestically is PV solar - mega solar (20~50MWp) however they also can look at onshore wind and energy storage projects.

Role:

• Lead all technical matters for greenfield, development, construction and operational projects, primarily PV solar however also extending to onshore wind and battery storage.
• Oversee, hire and develop multidisciplinary team of engineers to improve in-house local technical capabilities.
• Lead meeting with utilities and government agencies to coordinate project development to move forward. 
• Conducting initial technical analysis and due diligence new projects, including site visits and surveys to establish project budgets and secure approvals.
• Managing and coordinating third-party vendors for project execution, sharing technical details with EPC partners.
• Act as the in country head, member of the leadership team, and liaise directly with HQ technical teams.

Advantages:

• Great track record with FiT projects, and now doing PPA.  PPA is strength, have track record with all the GAFA scompanies as well as big JP offtakers.  
• Large balance sheet.  At this early stage in PPA market, able to fully fund projects on equity basis and refinance at later stage if market demands.
• Team of 7 right now, looking to expand to 20.  Have buy in from global to do so - need solid leadership to scale as team develops structure.
• Flexible work schedule - 2 days work from home and flexible time.  Team all have families, and understanding of need for work-life balance.
